Yogananda addressed the African-American students of Yogoda in Washington D.C., and appointed Mrs. Minnie C. Mayo as the leader of the Afro-American Yogoda Satsanga Association in Washington. Yogananda played the musical instrument, the Esraj, and the Burleigh Singers sang spirituals.
