Yogananda shared his plans to buy the Mt. Washington Hotel in Los Angeles and use it as a center for his spiritual organization.

Kamala Silva, who had started attending his classes two months earlier, wrote of it in The Flawless Mirror.

On March 8th Swami [Yogananda] told of his plans for the purchase of the Mt. Washington Hotel building and premises to be used for the Yogoda work. This site was located in one of the residential areas of Los Angeles and, when finding this place which he had seen in earlier vision, he was especially pleased it was named after America’s great Pioneer of Freedom.
